An evening of the immortal and popular songs of Shri Avinash Vyas.
It is commonly known that only one man made the Gujaratis sing, he is no other than the well known lyricist and composer of Gujarati and Hindi films Avinash Vyas, known in the Gujarati music and film industry as simply "Bhai".
Bhai composed music for over 250 films of which 175 were in the Gujarati regional language. It is probably a rare phenomenon that a poet himself also composes his own music. Poetry and music composition had brought Avinash Vyas popularity throughout the country. In Hindi his composition of Pinjare Ke Panchhi Re (sung beautifully by Pradeep) gave him an all India appeal and recognition whilst in Gujarat his composition and wordings of Raakhana Ramakda Maare Raame Ramta Raakhya won the hearts of a million Gujarati music lovers.
Even today whether it is a marriage function, no vidaai ceremony is complete without Avinash Vyas's "Benaa Re Saasariye Jaatan Jojo......Dikari To Parki Thapan Kevaai". And no Navratri function is complete without "He Ranglo". Avinash Vyas's unique achievement had been the writing of over 12,000 songs for which he composed the music for most of them.
In the field of Gujarati Sugam Sangeet (light classical), Avinash Vyas's contribution is unmatched. Bhai wrote over 125 Dance Ballets of which the most popular were Ram Shabari, Parivartan, Janak Dulari and Chauladevi which was internationally toured by Asha Parekh and Gopi Krishna.
Avinash Vyas remained at the top for four decades and was loved and respected by all in the Indian film industry especially in the Gujarati film industry. His contribution to popularise music among Gujaratis will always be remembered.
